Making the switch from a blue chip to a startup? What I wish I knew
After 6 years working in a big global company I decided to test a new environment and move to a start-up. I always felt attracted to the speed and agility of small start-ups and scale-ups, full of innovation, creativity and experimentation. But stepping into this world felt like a massive change for someone who had lived in a corporate bubble for so long.
It’s been a year now in a small company, and I wouldn’t change a thing! Here’s what I’ve learned:
1️⃣ Take the Leap: Don’t let comfort hold you back. Moving to a startup is about learning and gaining new experiences. Instead of fearing the unknown, focus on the growth potential. Ask yourself, what’s the worst that can happen? Taking the leap is better than living with what-ifs.
2️⃣ You’re not alone: Even if it feels like a whole new world, there are others going through the same journey. Reach out, meet them, and seek advice. Don’t be afraid to connect and build a support network. Connect with those who understand the challenges, and don’t hesitate to ask for help.
3️⃣ Enjoy the ride: Stressful? Yes. Confusing? Absolutely. But here’s the beauty — you’ll figure it out. You’ll discover a strong resilience within yourself. Not everything you knew will work, and that’s okay. Every challenge is an…
